What the job is:

As members of the Development team, BrandShop’s Front End Developers are primarily responsible for the UX and UI development of new digital commerce web store launches. The Developer will also provide support through post-launch feature requests and bug fixes. This onsite position will work closely with all departments to translate UX/UI design wireframes and functionality to code and markup.

What you’ll do:

  • Use your motivation and strong work ethic to combine the art of design with e-commerce web development
  • Work closely with the design team and translate UI/UX design wireframes to code and markup
  • With the UI/UX designer, bridge the gap between graphic design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works
  • Dynamically create, modify, and style element on web pages with ease using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Ensure feasibility of UI and UX designs
  • Communicate technical issues with non-technical users
  • Multitask and manage multiple projects with varying priorities under defined deadlines
  • Use your working understanding of all major browsers and special considerations required for various quirks
  • Work internally across departments to scope and develop projects to finish

The skills you’ll need to succeed:

  • 3-5+ years of experience and proficiency in web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
  • Experience with server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as SASS and LESS
  • Proficiency in client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
  • Proficiency in cross-browser compatibility issues and workarounds
  • Proficiency in code versioning tools, such as GIT and Bitbucket
  • Solid understanding of SEO principles and ability to ensure that applications will adhere to them
  • Strong understanding of responsive design and progressive enhancement techniques
  • Experience with front-end lazy loading techniques for performance
  • Experience developing with content management systems and writing documentation for end business users
  • Knowledge of web analytics such as GTM and GA
  • Knowledge of JS build tools such Gulp and Grunt
  • Basic knowledge of Photoshop to work with designs/images and grab information to aid in translation to HTML/CSS
  • Experience with digital commerce a plus
  • Experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (formerly Demandware), controllers, and ISML
